For our customer Agentschap Landbouw en Zeevisserij, we are looking for a Security Expert CISO and Data Protection Officer (DPO)

On-site in Brussels (telework not possible)

Role Description
The consultant will act as both a CISO and Functionaris Gegevensbescherming (Data Protection Officer), supporting the Agency’s data security and privacy strategy across all departments.
The role involves:
Supporting the information security policy aligned with ISO 2700x standards
Monitoring and reporting on GDPR compliance
Advising and assisting departments in privacy and data protection practices
Contributing to the development and optimization of procedures and registers (e.g. PIA, service orders)
Educating internal stakeholders on data protection
Acting as the point of contact for citizens, supervisory authorities, and inter-agency data exchange
Keeping current on legal and technological developments
Involvement in data sharing protocols and requests under public governance regulations
The DPO must carry out responsibilities as defined under European and national legislation, specifically aligned with the Flemish Government Decree of 23 November 2018 and Article 9 of the decree of 18 July 2008 on electronic data traffic.
Required Skills and Experience
(Mandatory unless noted otherwise)
Technical Competencies
Minimum 10 years' experience with ISO27001 and certification trajectories
Experience in information security
Certified BSI Lead Auditor
Understanding of administrative rules within Flemish public institutions
Knowledge of data processing practices at the Flemish government (nice to have)
Experience promoting data protection culture within government (nice to have)
Knowledge of national and EU privacy legislation
General Competencies
At least 8 years' experience in security projects
5 years' experience as a CISO architect
8 years' experience in conceptual architecture
Knowledge/experience with Agile mindset and approaches (should have)
Experience with data modeling and development methodologies (should have)
Experience in designing and implementing architecture strategies (should have)
