About the Role
As part of the IT Traversal Channel Capabilities tribe within BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels, our mission is to:
- Develop and support the foundations of banking applications, including frameworks, content management systems, API gateways, and more.
- Ensure seamless integration between front-end applications and legacy systems.
- Work in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
You will be part of a dynamic Java development team, responsible for handling document generation and distribution for both internal and external customers.
Your Future Job
As a Senior DEV Engineer/Tester, you will play a key role in the development and support of document generation solutions. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and developing Java-based solutions, providing expert advice, and actively participating in the testing phase. You will collaborate closely with other developers, consultants, and integrators to deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support and advice on client-side or back-end best practices.
- Analyze and develop document generation solutions.
- Collaborate with the Application Lead Developer and Application Consultant/Integrator to handle and challenge project feedback and new component candidates.
- Write analysis documents and user guides.
- Actively participate in the testing phase to ensure the quality and performance of the software.
Skills & Experience
Language Skills:
- Active knowledge of at least one local language (Dutch or French)
- Passive knowledge of the other language is a plus
- Fluent in English
Technical Experience
Mandatory:
- Extensive experience as a Java Engineer in an Agile environment.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Broad knowledge and experience with Java, Spring, Object-Oriented Programming (OO), REST, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Selenium.
- Experience with a Cloud environment.
- Ability to build maintainable code from scratch or customize off-the-shelf software.
- Understanding of Continuous Delivery principles and their application.
- Understanding of Operating Systems and Middleware software, with the ability to configure them for feature delivery.
- Experience with test automation, particularly using Selenium.
Preferable:
- Experience with integration using different technologies (distributed/mainframe) and infra components.
- Curious and up-to-date with the latest developments in the technical area.
Business Experience
Mandatory:
- Knowledge of Agile methodology.
- Good understanding of banking in general.
- Ability to discuss features and stories with stakeholders and the product owner, translating these into software with real business value.
- Ability to teach, coach, and train colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience.
- Continuous learning and self-development.
- Understanding and application of capacity and performance management.
Preferable:
- Bank experience.
